CAT PSYCHOLOGY 101 sounds and noises
Share
To create a comfortable and stress-free environment for your cat, it's best to be aware of your cat's sensitivities and provide a quiet, safe space when they need it.
At Minou Le-Mew, we ensure that the sounds of our packaging are designed to delight, not frighten or annoy your kitty. Here are some examples of sounds that we take care not to make because cats may find them unpleasant:
Loud and Sudden Noises
Cats have acute hearing, and loud or sudden noises like fireworks, thunderstorms, vacuum cleaners, or sirens can startle and stress them. These noises can trigger their "fight or flight" response, causing anxiety.
High-Pitched Sounds
Cats are more sensitive to high-pitched sounds that are beyond the range of human hearing. These sounds can include electronic devices, such as ultrasonic pest repellents or alarms. Cats may find these sounds uncomfortable.
Hissing or Growling
Naturally, cats don't like the sounds of other cats hissing or growling, as it signals aggression or territorial disputes. Hearing these sounds can make them anxious.
Metal-on-Metal or Screeching Noises
Cats may be startled by sharp, metallic noises, such as the clanging of pots and pans or the screeching of car brakes. These sounds can be jarring to their sensitive ears.
